Pamela Gladding is off to Tuscany, Italy

PAMELA GLADDING IS OFF TO TUSCANY!!!

Pamela is packing her brushes and paints for a trip to Tuscany where she will be decorating a harpsichord. (Definition - A harpsichord is a stringed instrument that was the precursor of the piano.)

Pamela says: "The decoration that I will be doing will be inspired by an instrument in the permanent collection of musical instruments at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. It was built by Johannes Couchet about 1650 and the decoration is of that century. Flowers and acanthus leaves intertwine and float on 23K gold leaf on the side of the case. Just my cup of tea! It is probably the one instrument that will use all my years of painting expertise. A grand statement for a grand age.

"Pamela's entree into the world of design and decoration after college was in decorating harpsichords for various new "builders" of these antique instruments in the traditions of the past for the modern age. These finished instruments found their way into private collections, museums, orchestras and schools. Pamela, of course, expanded her designing and decorating into a multitude of other products including these ecards.

Pamela admits that it will be tough to work in the beautiful and distracting surroundings of the Tuscan countryside...so stay tuned as we report on her adventures abroad. We are sharing some of the beautiful sights of Pamela's trip to Tuscany...    Her photos are a mix of Florence and  some of the beautiful cities in the near by area.       Pamela was busy painting a beautiful  harpsichord for a friend in Tuscany.     She certainly appears to have had a wonderful trip.

Pamela Gladding is shown here painting a harpsichord soundboard in Tuscany. Her background and career have "flowered" due to the traditional floral paintings she continues to paint - enhancing these unique and collectible musical instruments. They are treasured additions for collectors, museums and music academies world-wide, where Gladding's name is well-recognized and highly respected. She brings this exquisite training and experience to the lovely Ecards on her site: www.pamelagladding.com.

Artist of the Month

Ellen Jareckie

We are proud to have Ellen Jareckie join our Friends of Pamela and to add beautiful ecards to our collection.  You can view Ellen's website at www.house-mouse.com.
Ellen Jareckie EcardsEllen Jareckie was born in 1959 out in the beautiful green countryside of Bennington, Vermont, USA.  As a child she spent much of her spare time drawing.  In addition to that, she kept a variety of pets throughout her childhood.  These included a pet pig named Pipsqueak (who was raised on a bottle), a Bobwhite quail named Quincy, some lizards, snakes, goats, ducks, rabbits, cats, dogs, and of course mice.

Ellen has always been fascinated by animals and her love of mice Mouse Ecardsbegan long ago when her sister brought a domesticated mouse home from school.  The little creature was soft, warm, gentle and enjoyed being held.  It was love at first sight and the start of a lifelong interest that would lead to House-Mouse Designs.  Ellen Jareckie continues to dream up new mouse and bunny antics while working out of her home in Shelburne, Vermont.  In addition to drawing House Mouse Ecardsexclusively for House-Mouse Designs, Ellen volunteers to rehabilitate injured and orphaned wildlife, some of which can be seen interacting with the Mudpie Ecardsmice in her artwork.  In recent years Ellen has added her line of rabbit characters, HappyHoppers.
Ellen believes the popularity of the mice and bunnies lies in a combination of their expressions, the human activities in which they are engaged and their fuzzy appearance.

In addition to not putting clothing on the characters except for a few costumed ideas, she depicts her characters in life-size human environment which is designed to give the viewer a "mouse's-eye" view of the world.  Ellen continues to enjoy creating these whimsical characters and it shows in the look on Mudpie Mouse's face when he gets to eat a cookie that's as big as he is.

These are our ecard creations for House-Mouse. Check back to see Ellen's new ecards that we will create using her original works of art.   View Ellen's wonderful world of mice and other adorable creatures at House-Mouse Designs.
